Potassium Bromide

Potassium Bromide is widely utilized as an anticonvulsant agent in pharmaceutical industry and also for treatment of epilepsy in dogs. It is a salt which possesses chemical formula KBr with molar mass of 119.002 g/mol. This chemical compound is soluble in water and has white solid appearance with odorless nature. It can simply be produced by reaction of potassium carbonate with iron bromide. Potassium Bromide shows wide spectral range due to which it finds application for general spectroscopy and as infrared optical window. This compound is soluble in water & glycerol and has melting point of 734 degrees C with boiling point of 1435 degrees Celsius.
